[Musings] Moving More Posts Over Because Reddit Might Just Delete Them

[THE VERGE] Reddit deleted all chat history from before 2023 without really letting anyone know (apparently they claim they "let people know" by burying it in a wall of text). Frankly all their moves since the API changes announcement, such as removing awards (including those who paid for them) and continuing to lie about the accessibility rollout have furthered my unease about the platform. Aside from all of the spez mess, the absolute tone deaf posts from the other Reddit execs just doesn't inspire any sort of confidence.

In addition to modding, I've created several posts, many of which were decently thorough reviews, so I've dedicated a good amount of my time to the platform to better the community and the information archive. I really do/did love the sub and the community, but because we're on Reddit's platform, you can't really separate one from the other.

The blog was originally just intended as a fork off for me from the sub - I'm more interested in the science, marketing, and business decisions of AB brands and the sub of late seemed more interested on products for skin concerns. I was going to refer any relevant posts on this blog back to the sub but, honestly I don't know how long that history will be there now.

Would Reddit delete posts? Their catalogue of helpful posts and comments is one of the main draws of their platform, but I'm sure they'll come to a time in their near future that they may have to consider what's worth keeping as the amount of data they have to store expands and uh...not that they know me - I'm not very important - but what I created is important to me.

So I'm going to be moving some more posts over here, while keeping some them there as well. Likely just reviews; either just streamlining some posts that may have happened over multiple posts and/or updating them with my recent thoughts.

Not that I think Blogger/Google won't remove/delete things, but I think there's safety in at least spreading them out across multiple platforms.

Theoretically, I know, I should be saving them to my computer or to an external drive. But the amount of times I've spilled liquid onto my computer or misplaced things...it's probably safer this way😅
